Hanseatic League and Het Hanze Huis Trading Company

Between the 12th and 16th Century, the powerful old “Hanseatic League” was made up of 205 European towns, including large towns like Lübeck, Hamburg, Bruges, Antwerp, London, Tallinn, Bremen and Bordeaux. The merchants of these 205 Hanseatic towns controlled all trade in Europe at that time. This strong trading league also comprised nineteen Dutch Hanseatic towns, including our city of Groningen. Het Hanze Huis in the Hanseatic town of Groningen trades in the same way as the old hanseatic merchants and town leagues and uses the Hanseatic towns of Europe as its source of suppliers.

Het Hanze Huis imports only fine food products from companies in Europe that were found over 100 years ago. This selection makes Het Hanze Huis different and exclusive.

Nowadays, Het Hanze Huis is a modern Hanseatic Trade Company and supplies its products to more than 100 fine food and department stores in the Netherlands and Belgium. Het Hanze Huis Trading Company is open for visitors Monday from 12:00 till18:00 o'clock, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 09.00 untill 18:00 o’clock, Thursday from 09:00-21:00 o'clock and on Saturdays from 09.00-17.00 o’clock.
